Sandia National lab
Bethany Nicholson (SNL) is a Senior Member of Technical Staff at Sandia National Laboratories in the Center for Computing Research. Her research expertise is in dynamic optimization where she has been developing software tools for bringing dynamic optimization to broader audiences. She is one of the core developers of the Pyomo optimization package and the primary developer of the Pyomo.DAE extension for modeling and solving dynamic optimization problems. Within the IDAES project, Dr. Nicholson is jointly leading, with Dr. Anthony Burgard, the task on “Support for the Existing Coal Fleet” which involves developing steady-state and dynamic models of acoal-fired power plant that have been validated against actual plant data. Dr. Nicholson obtained her Bachelors in Chemical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology (2011) and her PhD in Chemical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University (2016).
